Kelsey Grammer spotted at Mohegan Sun filming Lifetime movie

Emmy award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer was spotted at Mohegan Sun on Tuesday after filming scenes for an upcoming Lifetime movie at the casino. In a picture posted to Facebook by Mohegan Sun, Grammer can be seen enjoying a meal at TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge. 

“Kelsey Grammer was a pleasure to work with as was the full production team with Synthetic Cinema International. The scenes that they shot for this upcoming movie largely took place at Aspire – which is a section of luxury hotel floors atop Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower," said George Galinsky, SVP of Marketing Communications for Mohegan Sun. "Following a full day of shooting, Kelsey enjoyed a nice intimate night out at Mohegan Sun’s popular TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge. It was certainly a memorable day hosting one of the most recognizable and talented actors of our generation.”

According to a spokesperson from Mohegan Sun, Grammer was filming scenes for the Lifetime movie, "The 12 Days of Christmas Eve."

“Kelsey and our entire production team had a great time utilizing Mohegan Sun as a location. The penthouse set was visually amazing, and the casino and resort support services were 100% supportive," said Andrew Gernhard of Synthetic Cinema International, a Rocky Hill-based production company that is working on the movie. "After we wrapped, I know much of the cast and crew enjoyed various restaurants across Mohegan Sun as a great way to end the day and unwind. Synthetic Cinema International is hoping to have more projects at Mohegan Sun in the future.”

Grammer is perhaps most famous for his portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist who can solve everyone's issues except his own in both "Cheers" and its spin-off show, "Frasier." For his performance of the character, Grammer earned four Emmy awards, two Golden Globes and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

This week, "Frasier" officially got the green light for a revival series that will air on Paramount+. According to the Hollywood Reporter, David Hyde Pierce’s Niles, Jane Leeves’ Daphne and Peri Gilpin’s Roz are all expected to make guest appearances throughout the series. "How I Met Your Mother's" Chris Harris and "Life in Pieces'" Joe Cristalli will helm the series after the two reportedly were behind a Twitter account that posted hypothetical "lines and scenes" for a "Frasier" revival. 

In 2018, it was reported that Grammer was interested in reviving the series, and was looking for new ideas for the direction of the revival. The series was teased as being in development by Paramount+ during their launch event in 2021.

Fans will also recognize Grammer from "Toy Story 2," "The Simpsons," "Boss" and "The Last Tycoon."

As for movies filmed at Mohegan Sun, many eagle-eyed fans will recognize the casino in Adam Sandler's 2019 crime thriller "Uncut Gems." Additionally, some scenes in the Oscar-nominated movie "The Town," which stars Ben Affleck and Jon Hamm, were also filmed at Mohegan Sun.
